Soothsayer (V7) – E flat
Yet another Soothsayer Backing Track? Yes, sorry! But this is the 7th and in my opinion best version, featuring brand new plugins and production tools! This is also the first backing track I’ve mixed on my Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro headphones using Waves CLA Nx, which recreates the acoustics of Chris Lord-Alge’s Mix LA Studio.

The Fairy And The Devil (V5)
Requested. This one is made for standard tuning (a half step higher than the album version). I really like the song…especially the parts with the ‘clean’ chords and the ending.

Mad Monster Party (V5)
Another request. This one took MUCH longer than expected because finding the right sounds (timpanis etc.) wasn’t that easy. This is the best I can do with the sounds and tools I have available. It’s in standard tuning! I kept the ending a bit shorter…just one timpani crescendo. 🙂

King James (V5)
This one was requested quite a few times. No surprise, as it’s one of the best tracks off Crime Slunk Scene. 🙂

Soothsayer (V5)
This is basically “V5” of my mixing journey…trying to improve the old tracks. The next track will probably be a new one. 😉
Changes (for those who care):
- better panning of the drums (cymbals and toms)
- blended in some parallel compression for the drums
- slighty different processing for kick/snare/toms
- Softube Tape on every track
- different “mastering” chain
Here’s the result:
